Simmons

In Hollandale Mississippi, we went to visit Simmons High School. It was very different. I really enjoyed myself.  The things that stood out to me the most were that the students have to go outside for classes. The classes aren't just like a few feet away from the main building. You have to walk like 5 minutes to get to a certain class. In my school (City Neighbors) only time the students walk out to go to their classes is when we have to go the annex, which takes less than a minute to get to. Another thing that stood out to me was that it was a predominately black school and no whites, which made me feel like segregation is still a problem for them meaning the whites won't send their kids there, which is really crazy. I feel that we're all equal as people and they shouldn't be afraid or judgmental about sending them to an all black school. Something that I really enjoyed was how all the teachers and employees knew all the students and they seemed like a family and I didn't know that other schools were like that, especially in other states.
