I felt so angry and upset after we walked across the Edmund Pettus Bridge. I know I'm just a 16 yr old female and I don't have much power but it's like I let my family down. Let me rephrase, I have power but don't know how to use it yet and embrace it. Our generation takes so much for granted and we don't appreciate the opportunities that are right in front of us, we have yet to realize how much our family sacrificed for us, they got us to where we are today and taught us the values of what it is to know right from wrong and black from white etc. Everything comes from our heart and I'm starting to realize we can't stop using that because it helps us have an open mind, walking across that bride also made me realize we have to respect the people that don't even respect us, we have to be the change and stand up for what's right, and last but not least honor our ancestors, family/friends that are making an impact in our lives.
