This morning we stopped in Money, Mississippi- a town smaller than my school's campus and the infamous abduction sight of Chicago native, Emmett Till. Till was brutally murdered over an innocent interaction with a white woman. He was fourteen years old.
Before this trip I thought I had never come across his name, and if I had it was never committed to memory. I came across his story on the very first stop on this strip in an exhibit entitled "the hall of shame". For some reason, his story resonated with me to the point where I felt that I had a responsibility to remember and share his story, in order to ensure that his involuntary sacrifice was not in vain.
