"I never doubt that a small group of
thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it's the only
thing that ever has." -Margaret Mead
I found this quote on the wall of The Little Rock Central High School historical site. It really struck me, and I think it really tied together what I've learned in this Civil Rights Trip experience. Not only have the main leaders of the civil rights movement were a part of small but powerful groups. These groups lead big communities. The leaders of the movement were committed to the cause- they dedicated their whole lives to it. Some, like MLK, sacrificed their lives for it. Dr. King was an extremely thoughtful leader. His emphasis on peaceful protesting helped him carry out a successful movement. The fight for equality may not be over, but MLK sure helped to create a spark in more individuals.
