I wonder why

Visiting the site of the Bryant store, of Emmett Till's murder, was very impactful to me. It was strange to see it so dilapidated and almost totally abandoned when it was such a pivotal spot in the civil rights movement. It was also a stark contrast to the expansive National Civil Rights Museum at the Lorraine Motel. I wonder why it is that some figures of the movement who were arguably as important as others have begun to fade into the background while others are still so prominent in the public imagination.
