One day, we went to the Lorraine Motel/National
Civil Rights Museum in Memphis, TN. This is where Dr. King was shot on his
motel room balcony from across the street. This was definitely my favorite
museum that we've been to on the trip so far. There was so much to learn about
the movement in that museum, stretching all the way back to slavery. It was
really moving to be in the actual place where something so tragic once
happened. We also went across the street to another part of the museum, where
we were able to see the place in which Dr. King's killer aimed the gun that
ended his life. Going to these important historical landmarks is the thing that
makes this trip so powerful and so much more inspiring than learning through a
textbook.
