As we stepped off the bus in Money, MS, an
ominous feeling swept over me. We walked to the store where Emmett Till was
said to have whistle at a white woman. Although we stood on the side of the
road with no one in sight, I could only imagine the deceit Emmett Till felt
when he visited the store. He probably felt the store was simply a store in the
South and didn't realize the danger that the store actually held. The fact that
cars flew down the road, until they saw us only intensified the feeling. If I
could get an uncomfortable feeling in a matter of minutes, how would it have
felt to live in that city everyday?
